Long time no blog

Goodness, I feel as if I owe my blog readers an apology. It's been a long time since I have posted anything new. I know I have a couple of Jace fans who check for the latest "Jaceism." Uncle Bucko - my deepest apologies!

Well, much has happened since the last time I posted. We've had International Kite Day, Easter, Chance and Logan's baby blessings, and I watched my neice and nephew and became a mother of 4 for a day and a half. I am indeed grateful that I am not a mother of four quite yet! Talk about exhausting. So to all of the mothers out there that have three or more kids - kudos to you!!!

So the day before Easter my family has a tradition which is called International Kite Day!! We always do it the Saturday before Easter. We get together and fly kites - well, I should specify that most of us fly kites. Usually Travis can't get a kite higher than eight feet in the air, EXCEPT this year he did it - congratulations Travis! This year Jace was ABSOLUTELY hilarious at flying kites! He flew a Superman kite and my dad (aka Papa) flew a Batman kite. Well, the two kites got tangled up and soon they were "fighting." Jace got very into it and started screaming and yelling at Batman and cheering on his Superman. He was growling at the kite and at Papa. He even charged my dad because his Batman kite took down the Superman kite. Jace was out of control. Seriously - there was screaming, growling, shooting, and roaring at Batman and Papa. Needless to say we were all laughing histerically. As Marissa says, "What a nut job!!"

So we flew kites for a while then went to Mom and Dad's house and had a BBQ, dyed Easter eggs, and then searched for our baskets. My mom and dad are awesome - they still make the holidays fun for their adult children. A few years ago, they started hiding our Easter baskets outside in the dark so they were harder for us to find. We each take a flashlight and run around the yard hunting for our baskets. It's quite a good time, especially since we taunt each other when we find someone else's basket. Thanks mom and dad for being so incredible and fun!

On Easter Sunday we had the boys find their Easter basket. They didn't get any candy since both sets of grandparents loaded them (us) up with candy. They got some fun spring activities and a couple of movies. We went to church and then down to Bryan's parents' house for dinner. The boys had new matching Easter outfits thanks to Pam. She is awesome about getting them Easter outfits each year, and this year their outfits were adorable. As Jace would say they looked like "Pimps!"

Today we just got back from spending the weekend down in St. George with my entire family. It was Chance and Logan's baby blessings yesterday. They both looked beautiful and Rissa did such an amazing job with their outfits. You'll have to go to her blog and see the pics. The weather was awesome and we thought that it was so warm that Ryan put up the blow up "Bonzai Falls" water slide on Saturday and went down it. Yeah- it wasn't so warm after that. Sometimes I wonder if us Turner's are all there! We had a great time laughing at each other though!

Well, sorry this was such a long post, but it really has been a while since I've been able to blog. Bryan informed me that I was writing an essay. Hope you enjoy the pictures and I promise to keep you all posted on the newest Jaceism!

Darn You, Karlee!

Okay, so Karlee tagged me. I hate these things because I can never think of things about myself. Sometimes I wonder if I even know anything about myself because I can never answer these dumb questions. Here goes...I'll give it a try.

1. What was I doing ten years ago?

I just turned 16...I went to a dance with Nick Buroker - he was my first date and I'm POSITIVE I was a huge nerd tyring to have a good time.

2. 5 things to do today.

Finish a YW project for a mtg. tomorrow morning, go to bed, wait for Bryan to get home (He's having an Elder's Quroum Halo game night - geek!;)), plan out my day for tomorrow, go to bed

3. What snacks do I enjoy?

Lately it's almonds (thanks Mom!), Pringles, chocolate, wheat thins, and I won't to admit to the other junk food.

4. What would I do if suddenly I were a billionaire?

MOVE! Build my dreamhouse. Get a Tahoe or some kind of nice SUV and NOT a minivan! Travel to Italy - maybe spend a month or more there - heck, maybe a year! Donate to a worthwhile charity. Maybe consider a boob job! (I don't know, I hear they're pretty painful!) :) Move Rissa closer to the family. Take my mom and dad on a really nice vacation - probably a cruise. Save, save, save.

5. 3 Bad Habits

Bryan says I say "OUCH" too much - I'll agree with him, I kind of do. Throwing Bryan's things (mostly papers) away if they're just lying around the house - I have gotten better though! Straightening things up constantly.

6. 5 jobs I've had

Janitor at South Jordan Elementary
Bagger/cashier at Macey's
Hostess/waitress at El Farol
Cashier at Anderson Lumber
Optician and Manager at Knighton Optical

7. 5 things people don't know about me

(I HATE this question) I want to own my own company someday or do something philanthropically; I would love to own a horse(s) someday; I'm constantly wiping off my counters - hate seeing anything on them; I love to work in my yard; I've lied to President Monson (long story!)

I'm not gong to tag anyone else - it's just mean! THis took me like a half hour to do.

(Comical) Prayers of a Child

So I have two HILARIOUS and cute prayer stories, and of course they come from Jace. So the first prayer happened when we were in California last weekend. We were at my sister-in-law, Lindsey's, house and it was Lindsey's family and all of Bryan's family there. Jace was doing a puzzle with his cousins and his aunt Tiff and Dave, Lindsey's dad, was trying to tease Jace and "get him going" if you will. Bryan and I told him that if he really wanted to get a rise out of him then tell him he had to go see the dentist. (Background: Last week Bryan told Jace that he was going to have to go to the dentsit soon. Jace FREAKED!!! "Dentists are LAME!!!" Also, Dave is a dentist.) So Dave told Jace that he was a dentist and that he was going to look at his teeth. Well, right in the middle of everything, Jace dropped what he was doing, clasped his hands, closed his eyes as tight as he could, and said, "Heavenly Father, grateful that I don't have to go to the dentist. Name of Jesus Christ, Amen." Needless to say, we all busted out laughing. The whole room LOST it. I guess he knows how to pray for things, huh?

Second prayer: Last night I was getting Jace ready for bed and while I was brushing his teeth, Jace asked me, "Mom, how come sometimes you are sad when you say prayers?" Yes, Jace has seen and heard me cry a couple of times while saying family prayers. So I told him that sometimes I pray for sad things, like if someone is sick or hurt. Well, we went into his room and knelt down for prayers and he started in on his own prayer. I helped him finish, but in the middle of saying sentences he would make this noise - it was kind of like a fake cough or something. I didn't quite catch on until he was closing his prayer, and then **DING** I understood. I had to ask Jace to make sure he was doing what I thought he was doing, so I said, "What were you doing?" He told me, "I was sad because I was praying for someone that was sick." Yes Folks, he was FAKE CRYING!! Now, keep in mind, we did not pray for anyone that was sick or hurt this time, he just thought it was necessary to be sad in his prayers. I ran downstairs and told Bryan what had happened and we lost it again! What can I say, Jace just cracks me up!

RRRRRRRRR!!

So today Jace did a naughty thing. I was on the phone with Rissa and I could hear this scratching noise in the living room. I thought he was playing with a cardboard box. The noise stopped and then I heard it again. I went out to the living room and asked him what he was doing and he told me nothing. I then turned around and looked at the couch. He had SCRATCHED our leather couch with his fingernails. It looked like a cat had gone at the couch cushion! I have to admit that I was VERY calm because I thought that the scratches would clear up with a wet cloth. Nope. Well, I sent Jace up to his room for a nap - I was very calm with him - but kinda upset inside. I was waiting for Bryan to get home, he would be home any minute, and I was just waiting for him to be upset WITH me. You know how you just want someone else to be mad with you sometimes, that's how I felt. Well, Bryan put me to shame. He looked at the couch and said, "That's okay - no big deal." I sat there with my mouth hanging open and said, "I thought you would be more mad." He just looked at me and said, "We have good kids." Yes, we do. What a perspective to have. Bryan is awesome! He's always surprising me! I guess I just have to keep learning patience!
